PSU – Polysulfide
PSU is one of the newer materials and is characterized by good chemical and temperature resistance. It is an amorphous and lightly yellow material. Qualities PSU is very useful. The material is not hydrolysis sensitive, not even by hot fluids up to approx. 150°C. PSU has a good strength and chemical resistance. It withstands x-ray and gamma radiation and in some cases replaces PC-Polycarbonate. The material is pretty notch sensitive, while the impact strength is on level with PC-Polycarbonate. The missing UV-stability can be improved by adding carbon.
Application
PSU is particularly used within the pharmaceutical and the food industry. Surgical instruments in PSU tolerate multiple times in the autoclave. Kitchen and canteen equipment, which produce hot water, are also made in PSU. Industries like electronics, automotive and aerospace also apply for PSU.
- Machine parts
- Hospital equipment
- Electrical components
