PUR – polyurethane
PUR is a flexible and springy plastic type, which can be used, when a combination of wear resistance, flexibility and ability to absorb shock is needed.
Qualities
Compact PUR is manufactured in different shore hardness, which also relates to the stiffness. Shore 90 is harder and stiffer than shore 80. PUR is a very elastic and can in some situations replace rubber. Due to the big toughness in the material is it very useful against rough wear. Although PUR can change color by contact with UV-light, there will be no changes to the qualities. Generally PUR is resistant to oil and gasoline, but not to concentrated acids and bases, as well as hot water and steam.
Application
In addition to its use as couplings, bushings etc. in the machine industry, it is particularly the construction industry who finds enormous use of PUR for snowplow inserts, mixing blades, scrapers, shock absorbers and the like.
