PVC – polyvinylchloride
PVC is one of the oldest plastic materials that exists and is found in a lot of different types and qualities. The material has earlier been very widely used (e.g. packaging), but can no longer be used by contact with foods and waste shall be send to destruction. Because of its good chemical resistance are PVC often used to tubs, pipes etc. in chemical and food industry. Mechanical engineering often uses PVC, where there is no wear. Just as it is also applied to ventilation ducts, shielding, cabinets and other vacuum-formed products. Sign Industry are using PVC plates in foamed form, which is also UV-resistant.
As semi-fabricated, PVC is primarily known as bars, sheets (colored and clear) and pipes, but also in softened execution as tapes and revolving door foil. Sheets are to be found in multiple qualities, which are: ordinary impact proof, extra impact proof (which are good for thermoforming) and foaming.
Application – revolving door foil
Clear soften PVC is used as a shield against wind and cold / heat at doors, often associated with cold stores. Clear softened PVC, PVC Flex, is mostly used as tape in 200-300-400 mm width, so that people, trucks etc. can get through. This is also available as revolving door foil in wide rows.
